PARC’s Annual Playwrights’ Colony Submission Deadline is February 1, 2019

February 26, 2018

MAY 5 – 19, 2019

Playwrights Atlantic Resource Centre (PARC) will be hosting the 2019 PARC Playwrights’ Colony from May 5th to 19th in Sackville, New Brunswick on the Mount Allison University campus.

The annual Playwrights’ Colony, PARC’s flagship program, is a two-week playwrights’ residency open to emerging and established playwrights in Atlantic Canada. At the Colony, eight to ten playwrights from across the Atlantic region and beyond will have an opportunity to develop a new script. The Colony offers the most intensive writing opportunity for playwrights in this region. It provides playwrights with the time to write, reflect and develop their work in a supportive and nurturing environment. Writers benefit from the one-on-one assistance of a professional dramaturge and the expertise of a company of professional workshop actors.

Playwrights may submit an application for the Colony with a completed script, a partially completed work in progress, or a synopsis.

The playwright must be a playwriting member of PARC, whose membership dues are up to date. For information on becoming a PARC member, go to the website at: www.playwrightsatlantic.ca

The submission must include:

•A cover letter indicating what the playwright hopes to accomplish at the Colony and any other information about the script in terms of previous development, upcoming plans for production, previous productions, stage of development, or if the play has been commissioned.
•A short bio or resume for the playwright outlining previous experience.
•A synopsis of the script/project with sample scenes and/or a complete draft of the script.
•The application, including synopsis, sample scenes and/or script must be sent by e-mail to PARC’s Artistic Director Pamela Halstead at parcdramaturge@playwrightsatlantic.ca
•Scripts MUST include: page numbers; a title page with title, playwright’s name, address, e-mail address and phone number; and a character list indicating casting requirements.

•Please note: playwrights will be expected to attend for the full two-week period of the Colony.

The deadline for submissions is: Friday, February 1, 2019.
