With the generous financial support from ArtsNL and in partnership with PARC Company Member Theatre Newfoundland and Labrador, Playwrights Atlantic Resource Centre (PARC) is thrilled to bring back new play development workshops to Western Newfoundland!
PARC is now welcoming submissions from playwrights at all levels in their careers based in and/or connected to Western NL to develop new plays through our New Play Development Workshop Series. Playwrights may submit ideally a completed script. If that is not available we will accept a partially completed work in progress. We welcome any story, but preference will be given to local stories and/or musically inclined pieces.
Two to three Western NL playwrights will receive the opportunity to have an intensive process with professional dramaturgical support from PARC’s Artistic Director and award-wining playwright, Santiago Guzmán, to further develop their scripts. Workshops are based on a model with one-on-one dramaturge and playwright meetings, a minimum of two sessions of 3 hours with professional actors, including time in between each session of at least one full day for the playwright to write and revise their work. This process will culminate with a public reading with an opportunity for feedback and conversation facilitated by the dramaturge. Accommodation and honorarium provided and travel arranged or assisted.
Submissions will be accepted until November 21, 2025.
The Workshops will take place from February 16-21, 2026, in Cow Head, NL.
Eligibility Criteria:
- You are/become a PARC Member;
- You are based in/have a connection to Western NL.
