BIO

EJ Weise (they/she/all) is a marine biologist and theatre artist currently residing in K’jipuktuk. Originally from Michigan, their interdisciplinary writing career has included original live plays and musicals, podcasts, and peer-reviewed scientific publications. They write and host a science comedy podcast titled 'An Everyday Dissection,' and are a co-writer of ‘Bottom Dwellers: A Deep-Sea Musical’ and ‘mating habits of common mammals.’ Her most acting credits include Avery Wilson in ‘mating habits of common mammals’ (UnNatural Disaster Theatre Co, ‘Nerdiest show’ at Halifax Fringe), Daniel in ‘Sticky Business’ (Theatre Desassimilies, Best Fringe in BYOV), and Emily in ‘Deeper’ (page1 theatre and UnNatural Disaster, Merritt Award for best show by an emerging company, Audience choice for show at Outfest). She is a PhD candidate at Dalhousie working on developing genomic tools that assess exploited fish so that they can be harvested sustainably.
