Joshua Bilbao

Joshua Bilbao is a Mexican-Canadian playwright, actor, and producer based in Montreal. He trained at the Tom Todoroff Conservatory in New York City, where he studied voice, speech, movement, and Shakespeare while developing his approach to character-driven storytelling. Joshua’s writing has been supported by programs such as the Young Creators Unit at Playwrights’ Workshop Montréal, Imago Theatre's Nested Circles and Black Theatre Workshop's Artist Mentorship Program. His bilingual solo play God Has ADHD draws from his experiences as a young immigrant artist working in New York and reflects on survival, friendship, and the search for belonging. Alongside his writing practice, Joshua has produced, directed, and performed in theatre, film, and music video projects, and continues to develop new plays that explore personal narratives within broader cultural contexts.
