Synopsis
It's 1942 and Gerald is in a bad mood. All the men are away fighting except him. They said he's too old. To make matters worse, he's surrounded by women doing men's work. During this sketch, the family listen to the 5 o'clock news from Halifax. Everything the Newsreader says actually happened in 1942, eg: a Nova Scotia Province-wide black-out test with some amusing mishaps.
