BIO

Brynn Cutcliffe (she/her) is a playwright, director, and (sometimes) performer from Charlottetown, PEI. She is a graduate of Sheridan College’s Music Theatre Performance program, an ardent supporter of new Canadian work, and an incorrigible maker of bad puns. She loves a good stage direction, she loves strong, complicated women, and she loves to get weird. (She also loves a list of three.) She has created and directed plays for Smile Theatre, the Island Fringe Festival, blue: an art pop-up, and a Diva Day fundraising cabaret. Her play "Wild Card" won the PARC Award at the Island Fringe in 2018. During the early days of the pandemic, she created an interactive theatre experience delivered through the mail called "The Extraordinary Humans’ Hall of Extraordinary Humanness" with Theatre Foolscap. Recently, her play "Waiting for Her" was selected as the winner of Toronto Fringe’s 24 Hour Playwriting Contest. Currently, she is developing a play called "The Weatherman" - an absurdist comedy about climate change denial, set on Prince Edward Island - which she recently workshopped in Charlottetown thanks to the generous support of the Canada Council for the Arts. Upcoming, her new one-woman (and one-cactus) play, "The Prick," will be playing at the Island Fringe Festival this summer!
