Richie Wilcox is a multi-talented director/actor/writer and, in general, a fiercely queer artist. They have spent the last ten years creating, devising and writing original works. They are the founding artistic director of the live art company HEIST. Wilcox has created and performed in numerous works for HEIST including The Princess Show, Princess Rules, and New Waterford Boy. WIlcox served as dramaturg for HEIST’s award-winning original production Frequencies which played at numerous theatres across the country including Prairie Theatre Exchange, the Festival of Live Digital Art and the National Arts Centre. They have worked with numerous companies across the Maritimes including Neptune, Festival Antigonish, 2B Theatre, Kazan Co-Op, Opera Nova Scotia, the Highland Arts Theatre, Playwrights Atlantic Resource Centre and more. Wilcox was Artistic Associate with Theatre Outre in Lethbridge, Alberta from 2012 - 2016 where they premiered numerous acclaimed works including UNSEX’d, How To Leave, Castrati: An Electro Drag Opera and The Confessions of Jeffrey Dahmer. From 2019-2022 Wilcox served as the artistic director of Ship’s Company Theatre. Wilcox was a recipient of the Mayor’s Award for Emerging Theatre Artist in 2007, received a Merritt for Outstanding Performance in a Supporting Role in 2017 and received the 2021 Merritt for Outstanding New Nova Scotia Play for his script Good Grief. Wilcox was a finalist for the 2021 Nova Scotia Masterwork Award for his work on The Princess Show
