BIO

Bethany Lake is a novelist, playwright, and freelance journalist from Halifax, Nova Scotia. As a playwright, her plays include A Healthy War, The Prince of Pig Alley, and No Animal. As of 2023, Bethany has a new play in development. Bethany co-adapted the short story “A Spider’s Tale” into an original musical of the same name. The production was a partnership between the Fountain School of Performing Arts (Dalhousie University) and Symphony Nova Scotia, which wrote and performed original music. No Animal has been published in the NYC-based literary magazine, The Furious Gazelle. She was Artistic Director of Demasquer Theatre in Halifax, NS., and was a member of Eastern Front Theatre’s Playwrights Unit in 2011. As a novelist, Bethany is the author of the dystopian novel Walk On (publisher TBD). She is currently working on her second novel. Bethany is also a regular contributor to Rue Morgue magazine. Her work has also appeared in Atlantic Books Today, PRISM international, Write, and The Big Takeover. Bethany obtained a BA in Theatre Studies at Dalhousie University (Halifax, NS) before continuing her playwriting education at Tarragon Theatre (Toronto, ON).
