BIO

Jake Martin is a writer, actor and comedian from Clifton Royal, NB. He is a graduate of St. Thomas University, where he is currently doing a residency at the Black Box Theatre. He is a Second City Conservatory alum, the former Artistic Director of the Next Folding Theatre company and a former member of Canadian Comedy award-winning troupe, The Sketchersons. His short dark comedy "Someone Gets Shot" was selected for the Samuel French Off Off Broadway Festival and nominated for the Carol Tambor Best of Edinburgh Fringe Award. With the Next Folding Theatre Company, he co-wrote the historical plays "Henry Moon: Conducts and Mischiefs of the Lunar Rogue" and "Pistols & Petticoats: Shadows of Sarah Emma Edmonds". His one act plays "Wasters" and "Spaceman" were winners of the Notable Acts One Act Playwriting Competition in 2016 and 2015 respectively. Recently he performed his solo sketch comedy show "Snakes Are Cool" at the Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival and is currently preparing it for touring.
