BIO

Ameer Idreis is an award-winning writer, playwright, and urbanist with a passion for storytelling that highlights and explores culture, land, and identity. Ameer’s debut play “Ships in the Night” won a Playwrights Guild of Canada Tom Hendry Award (Robert Beardsley Award), the Hart House Theatre Playwriting Competition, and is in early development at Theatre Passe Muraille. Ameer previously participated in the Banff Centre Playwrights Retreat and Paprika Festival, where he developed his second play “The Walls Enclosing”. As an urbanist, Ameer holds a Master of Science in Planning and works on various urban planning, policy, and design projects. Writing and urbanism aside, he enjoys watching coming-of-age movies, exploring forest trails, and curating niche playlists.
