A historical drama that is startlingly contemporary in its aesthetics, values and theatrical languages, Wonder tells the story of Canada’s first female nuclear physicist Harriet Brooks.
An astounding talent, Harriet worked alongside the top physicists in the world including Marie Curie and Ernest Rutherford – yet she was forced to leave science prematurely due to gender barriers.
Wonder brings this little known Canadian hero to the stage, highlighting the strength and sacrifice of women who defy society’s expectations.
Development workshop and reading, directed by Sarah Kitz (Toronto) – February 2019. Produced by Ellen Denny and Emily Pettet, with support from the Ontario Arts Council, Women in Nuclear Canada, and Canadian Nuclear Association.
